Last week was a very sad week for myself and coworkers at Monroeville Library. Our former Director, Kathy Kennedy, died on Memorial Day. Even though we knew of her health problems it was a shock to most of us. She had started coming in to volunteer at our Welcome Desk on Friday afternoons and had been in about a week and a half before her death. Kathy was always so pleasant, cheerful and non-complaining. She was a terrific supervisor (she never liked the word boss). She will be missed by her family, friends and colleagues. I was looking forward to seeing her at the Welcome Desk on Fridays and this will be another great loss, because I am sure her former coworkers and Monroeville patrons would have had their day brightened by her good cheer. We are left with fond memories.

I'm so sorry for your and the library's loss. K didn't know Kathy at all, but when I read in her obituary about how much she'd contributed to library world, I couldn't help but mist up a little. I can't even imagine what your patrons / staff must feel like. You'll be in my thoughts/prayers.
